BOCI demands that authorities avoid targeting private transporters in the public transport sector, calling for a fair and balanced approach to address violations.
Kochi: The Bus and Car Operators Confederation of India (BOCI) has called on the authorities to reconsider their approach towards private transporters in the public transport sector, urging them to stop viewing them as adversaries. In a meeting of the state leadership, BOCI expressed concern over the tendency to penalize a small group of vehicle owners who may commit legal violations, stating that this approach unfairly targets the entire sector.
The organization emphasized that protecting jobs within the public transport sector should be the responsibility of the government and called for complete tax exemptions for vehicles operating within the sector. BOCI’s All-India Vice President Manoj Padikkal inaugurated the meeting, with National Vice President of the Intercity Division A.J. Rijas presiding over the session. Anil Kumar, Adv. V.E. Anup, and others also spoke at the event. Manoj Padikkal and A.J. Rijas were honored during the meeting for being elected as the organization’s National Vice Presidents.
