The Southern Naval Command announced that Thiruvananthapuram will host the grand Navy Day 2025 Operational Demonstration on December 4, showcasing India’s maritime strength and indigenous capabilities. A series of public outreach programs, exhibitions, and the Kochi Navy Marathon will also be held to strengthen the Navy’s bond with the people of Kerala.
Kochi: The Southern Naval Command held a curtain raiser press conference today announcing the schedule and highlights of the Navy Day 2025 celebrations. Addressing the media, officials stated that Navy Day, observed every year on December 4, commemorates the Indian Navy’s pivotal role in the 1971 Indo-Pak War, particularly the successful Operation Trident that dealt a decisive blow to enemy coastal defences. The day stands as a tribute to the courage, precision, and strategic brilliance of naval personnel who continue to safeguard the nation’s maritime interests.
This year, the Indian Navy will mark the occasion with a spectacular Operational Demonstration at Shangumugham Beach, Thiruvananthapuram, on December 4, 2025. The event, to be hosted by Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff, will showcase India’s naval prowess, indigenous capabilities, and commitment to Aatmanirbhar Bharat. The demonstration aims to give the public a rare opportunity to witness the Navy’s multi-domain operations and its role as the “Preferred Security Partner” in the Indian Ocean Region. Preparations for the event are in full swing with the active support of the Kerala Government and civil administration.
In the lead-up to Navy Day, several outreach programs have been planned to instill pride and maritime awareness among citizens. The Naval Base at Kochi will be open to visits by special children and senior citizens on November 8, followed by guided visits for students on November 10 and 11. These will feature exhibitions of advanced weaponry, aircraft, and ship models. Naval teams from the Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, will also engage with students in Thiruvananthapuram through workshops and awareness programs, fostering maritime consciousness among the youth.
Adding to the celebrations, the renowned Naval Band will perform in Thiruvananthapuram on November 26, followed by a special musical concert at Kochi’s Sagarika Auditorium on December 10. The much-anticipated Kochi Navy Marathon 2025, launched earlier on October 15, will be held on December 21, promoting fitness and strengthening the bond between the Navy and the people of Kerala. The Southern Naval Command emphasized that the series of events reflects the Navy’s theme for the year — “Combat Ready, Cohesive, Aatmanirbhar: Safeguarding Seas for a Vikshit Samriddha Bharat.”
