Kochi: Architects should strive to design buildings that suit the modern era without compromising the region’s cultural heritage, said Tripunithura Municipal Vice Chairperson Radhika Varma. She was inaugurating the 48th Foundation Day celebrations of Ajith Associates at Silver Sand Island, Vyttila.
Architect Prof. B. R. Ajith, Managing Director of Ajith Associates and Chairman of Azadi College, presided over the function. Radhika Varma also inaugurated the women’s hostel of Azadi College on the occasion. Tripunithura Municipal Councillor K. M. Anilkumar delivered the keynote address.
Belgium-based artist and Visiting Professor at Azadi College, Nadine Vanoost, Ajith Associates Finance Director Devi Ajith, Azadi College Principal Bal Shankar Gargade, M.Arch Head V. N. Ramachandran, Administrative Director T. Prabosh, and others spoke at the event. Various cultural programmes followed the formal session.
