NEW DELHI: The inaugural meeting of the India-Kuwait Joint Defence Committee (JDC) took place in New Delhi on August 28, 2026, marking a significant milestone in operationalizing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Defence Cooperation signed in December 2024. Both nations agreed to broaden bilateral defence ties across key domains, including joint military exercises, training programs, defence manufacturing, R&D, military medicine, and service-level staff talks.
The meeting was co-chaired by Joint Secretary Shri Amitabh Prasad and Brigadier General Raed Alsakran, who led a five-member Kuwaiti delegation. The Indian contingent included officials from the Ministry of External Affairs, Department of Defence Production, DRDO, Armed Forces Medical Services, and the three Armed Services.
As part of the official itinerary, Brigadier General Alsakran laid a wreath at the National War Memorial in New Delhi to honor fallen soldiers. The Kuwaiti delegation also held strategic discussions with Indian defence industry leaders at DPSU Bhawan to explore potential manufacturing partnerships, complemented by a dedicated industry interaction session. Building on diplomatic ties established in 1962 and elevated to a Strategic Partnership in 2024, this meeting reflects the shared commitment of both nations to deepen strategic and security cooperation.
