Kochi : Renowned playback singer Sujatha Mohan has been selected for the 2026 ‘Ravindra Award’, instituted by the Ravindran Master Musical Trust in memory of the legendary Malayalam film music composer Ravindran Master. The award recognises Sujatha Mohan’s outstanding overall contribution to Indian music and her distinctive identity established through her emotionally rich and expressive singing style, office-bearers of the Trust announced at a press conference. The Ravindra Award has been presented for the past two decades in memory of Ravindran Master’s illustrious musical journey. In previous years, the award has honoured several stalwarts of the music industry, including Sreekumaran Thampi, Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri, Vidhyadharan Master, Ouseppachan, Johnson Master and K.S. Chithra. The 21st edition of the ‘Ravindra Sangeetholsavam’, organised by the Trust in connection with Ravindran Master’s birth anniversary, will be held on Monday, November 9, at Azeezia Convention Centre, Padiyattom, Ernakulam. The 13-hour uninterrupted musical tribute will begin at 9 am and continue until 10 pm, featuring leading Malayalam playback singers and talented young artists performing the enchanting compositions of Ravindran Master. The ‘Ravindra Sangeetha Sandhya’ will be held on Saturday, November 14, at 6 pm at Azeezia Convention Centre, Pazhuvil, Thrissur. Sujatha Mohan will be presented with the Ravindra Award at the mega cultural evening. The programme will feature a musical concert led by playback singers Madhu Balakrishnan, Afsal, Kallara Gopan, Najeem Arshad, Sudeep Kumar, Jyotsna and Mridula Warrier. Renowned dancer and film actor Asha Sarath and Kalamandalam Sophia Sudeep will also present dance performances. The details were announced at a press conference held at Azeezia Convention Centre, Padiyattom, Kochi, by Shobhana Ravindran, wife of Ravindran Master; Sajan Madhav, son of Ravindran Master and music director; renowned playback singer Biju Narayanan; and Azeezia Group PRO Jaleel Thanath.
