Akashvani and the Ministry of Culture have launched ‘Har Kanth Mein Bharat,’ a special classical music program to promote India’s rich musical traditions, airing daily on 21 stations nationwide.

 

Akashvani and the Ministry of Culture have jointly launched ‘Har Kanth Mein Bharat’, a special radio series dedicated to Indian classical music. The program, inaugurated on Basant Panchami at the Pandit Ravi Shankar Music Studio in New Delhi, aims to showcase the diversity of Indian classical music and will be broadcast daily at 9:30 AM on 21 Akashvani stations until February 16, 2025.

The inaugural ceremony began with a floral offering to Goddess Saraswati, attended by key dignitaries including Shri Arunish Chawla, Secretary of the Ministry of Culture; Shri Gaurav Dwivedi, CEO of Prasar Bharati; Dr. Prajna Paliwal Gaur, Director General of Akashvani; Ms. Ameeta Prasad Sarabhai, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Culture; and Ms. Kanchan Prasad, Director General of Doordarshan. In her address, Dr. Prajna Paliwal Gaur highlighted the significance of Basant Panchami and the vision behind the program, while Shri Gaurav Dwivedi emphasized Akashvani’s role in preserving India’s musical heritage. Shri Arunish Chawla discussed the need to protect performing arts in the AI era and the Ministry of Culture’s commitment to fostering such initiatives.

The event also featured live classical music performances, including a Saraswati Vandana, a vocal recital in Raag Basant, and a Sarod rendition in Raag Desh, which captivated the audience. ‘Har Kanth Mein Bharat’ reflects Akashvani and the Ministry of Culture’s efforts to bring Indian classical music to a wider audience, reinforcing India’s rich musical legacy through modern broadcasting platforms.
