Amrita Kochi Campus Forms Human Chain on International Day Against Drug Abuse

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s Kochi campus marked the International Day Against Drug Abuse with a massive human chain involving students and staff from various health and medical schools. Excise Assistant Commissioner T.N. Sudheer urged the need for more de-addiction initiatives and pledged students to fight drug use.

Kochi : Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s Kochi campus observed the International Day Against Drug Abuse with a powerful awareness event organized by the Amrita College of Nursing. A large-scale human chain was formed as part of the event, with participation from students and faculty of Amrita School of Pharmacy, Amrita Center for Allied Health Sciences, Amrita School of Dentistry, and Amrita School of Medicine, along with members of the Amrita Nursing Service.

The anti-drug day program was inaugurated by Ernakulam Assistant Excise Commissioner T.N. Sudheer, who emphasized the significant role the medical field can play in the fight against drug abuse. He pointed out the urgent need to establish de-addiction centers and other supportive measures to help rescue children trapped in substance abuse. He also administered an anti-drug pledge to the students.

Key dignitaries present at the event included Dr. K.T. Molly, Principal of Amrita College of Nursing, Dr. Sabitha M, Principal of Amrita School of Pharmacy, Dr. Rakesh, Vice Principal of Amrita School of Dentistry, Sheela Pavithran, Vice Principal of the College of Nursing, and C.V. Vinayakan, General Manager of Amrita Institute. Professor Lt. Colonel Dr. Aji K.L. delivered the vote of thanks.

Over 700 students took part in forming the human chain, symbolizing unity against the menace of drug abuse.
