India’s first CAR-T Cell Therapy National Conclave to be held in Kochi on April 6, featuring global experts and the launch of a new treatment unit.
Kochi : The Ernakulam Medical Trust Hospital’s Department of Medical Oncology and Clinical Hematology is set to host the Cura Immunis” – The CAR-T Cell Therapy National Conclave on Sunday, April 6. The event will take place at Crown Plaza, Ernakulam, and will be inaugurated at 12:00 PM by Dr. Divya S. Iyer, IAS, Managing Director of Vizhinjam Port. Dr. P.V. Louis, Managing Director of Medical Trust Hospital, will preside over the function .

A key highlight of the conclave will be the inauguration of the new Bone Marrow Transplant and CAR-T Cell Therapy Unit at Medical Trust Hospital. The event will feature a keynote address by Dr. Sathwa S. Neelapp, a distinguished cancer specialist from the United States and a professor at the University of Texas. Other eminent speakers include Dr. Naveen Katri, Prof. Rahul Parwar, Dr. P.V. Thomas, Dr. Boban Thomas, Dr. B. Hitha, and Dr. Thomas Kuncheria. The details were announced at a press conference by Dr. P.V. Louis, Dr. Varun Rajan (Organizing Chairman), and Dr. Thomas Kuncheria (Secretary).

CAR-T Cell Therapy: A Revolutionary Cancer Treatment

CAR-T cell therapy is a highly effective treatment for patients who do not respond to conventional cancer therapies or experience relapse. Currently, it has proven most beneficial for blood cancers such as leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma. Experts predict that within the next six to seven years, CAR-T cell therapy will be applicable for all types of cancer. The therapy requires 45 days for completion, with a hospital stay of less than ten days.

This first-ever CAR-T Cell Therapy Conclave in India is being organized in collaboration with the Indian Society of Medical & Pediatric Oncology, the Association of Medical & Pediatric Oncologists of Kerala, and the Cochin Hematology Group. Over 200 faculty members and 300 delegates are expected to attend.

The conclave will commence at 9:00 AM with seminars and panel discussions featuring renowned oncologists, including Dr. P.M. Jayachandran, Dr. Hasmukh Jain, Dr. Chandran K. Nair, Dr. Sharath Damodar, Dr. K. Vijay Patil, Dr. Prasad Narayanan, Dr. Neeraj Siddharthan, Dr. Uday Kulkarni, Dr. Lingaraj Naik, Dr. N.V. Ramaswami, and Dr. Sunu Lazar Syriac. The event will conclude with a panel discussion at 5:00 PM.
