Dr. G.N. Ramesh Takes Charge as First Governor of Newly Formed Rotary District 3205

Renowned gastroenterologist Dr. G.N. Ramesh has officially taken charge as the first Governor of Rotary District 3205, comprising Ernakulam, Idukki, and Thrissur. The new Rotary year, starting July 1, will focus on the theme “Harmony”, highlighting compassion, innovation, and social impact.

Kochi : In a notable milestone for Rotary International, renowned gastroenterologist Dr. G.N. Ramesh officially assumed office as the first District Governor of the newly formed Rotary District 3205. The installation ceremony was held at the Gokulam Convention Centre, Kaloor, with Justice Bechu Kurian Thomas of the Kerala High Court serving as the chief guest. Emphasizing the power of collective service, Justice Thomas remarked, “A drop of water may not make a change, but a flowing stream can reshape the land. Rotary is that stream.”

In his inaugural address, Dr. Ramesh underlined his commitment to action over announcements and announced his goal of increasing both Rotary membership and women participation by 10% in the new Rotary year beginning July 1. The theme for the year, “Harmony”, focuses on projects driven by compassion, innovation, and social impact.

District 3205 has lined up several service initiatives including housing for the homeless, scholarships and educational aid, promotion of renewable energy like solar power, free medical camps, support for elder care homes and orphanages, environmental conservation efforts, and youth development programs such as career guidance and leadership training. Special focus areas will also include support for children with autism, assistance for insulin-dependent patients, and even a cremation facility for pets, showcasing the district’s progressive and inclusive vision.

Comprising 103 Rotary Clubs and over 3,700 members from Ernakulam, Idukki, and Thrissur, the new district marks a fresh chapter in Rotary’s mission. The ceremony also saw the presence of former District Governor Adv. N. Sundara Vadivelu, several Rotary leaders, and civic dignitaries.
