Ernakulam Medical Centre celebrates its 40th anniversary with a special event, marking its journey from a small facility to a major multi-specialty hospital, while also introducing a free hearing check-up initiative for auto-rickshaw drivers.
Kochi: Ernakulam Medical Centre (EMC), one of the leading hospitals in the city, celebrated its 40th anniversary with a special event. The anniversary celebrations were held at the IMA House in Kaloor, and the event was inaugurated by Dr. Jacob Abraham, President of Kochi IMA. The celebration saw the participation of various dignitaries, including Managing Director Dr. T.V. Ravi, Executive Director Dr. C.G. Raghu, Medical Director Dr. Anu Ashokan, Medical Superintendent Dr. V.P. Kuryaipp, and Directors Dr. T.V. Geetha, Vijay Ravi, Deep Ranjith, Chandini Ravi Anu, Dr. V.D. Pradeep Kumar, and Dr. Deepak N. Nair.
As part of the anniversary celebrations, the hospital launched a free hearing check-up program for auto-rickshaw drivers in the city. The initiative aims to provide essential healthcare services to this essential section of the community.
Founded on January 25, 1985, by T.A. Velunni and C.I. Gopalan, the EMC began its journey as a small facility with just 40 staff members and a 50-bed capacity. Over the years, the hospital has grown into a renowned medical institution offering a wide range of services, including six super-specialty departments and over 30 treatment specialties. EMC is also recognized for its accreditation by NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers) and the National Board of Examinations. In addition, the hospital offers postgraduate diploma courses in various specialties such as General Medicine, Pediatrics, Orthopedics, Gynecology, and Anesthesiology.
