Biomerck India Foundation and Alpha Palliative Care have joined hands to provide free dialysis treatment for economically backward patients in Thrissur. As of May 2025, over 4,200 dialysis sessions have been completed under this joint initiative, with plans to continue till March 2026.
Thrissur : In a heartening move for underprivileged kidney patients, Biomerck India Foundation has partnered with Alpha Palliative Care’s Alpha Hospice in Thrissur to provide free dialysis treatments. The initiative, launched in April 2024, will continue until March 2026, according to R. Balachandran, Chairman of Biomerck India Foundation, and K.M. Noorudheen, Chairman of Alpha Palliative Care.
Each month, the Foundation is funding 300 dialysis sessions, ensuring consistent medical care for patients facing financial hardship. As of May 2025, the collaboration has successfully completed 4,200 free dialysis sessions.
The dialysis center is located at Edamuttam in Thrissur, and in addition to the treatment, the program also offers free transportation support for patients commuting to and from the dialysis facility. This significantly eases the burden on families, allowing them to maintain their livelihoods while ensuring the patient’s treatment continues uninterrupted.
“No one should be denied essential treatment due to poverty,” said K.M. Noorudheen, underscoring the mission behind the project.
The Alpha Hospice also offers integrated care, including physiotherapy and palliative support, playing a critical role in improving the quality of life for those battling chronic illnesses.
