Hibi Eden MP emphasized that poorly built roads contribute to accidents and urged the government to construct durable, all-weather roads while assuring support for private transport operators.
Kochi: Member of Parliament Hibi Eden has called on the government to construct all-weather roads that can withstand heavy rains, stressing that poor road conditions contribute significantly to accidents. He was speaking at the Ernakulam regional annual conference of the Contract Carriage Operators’ Association (CCOA), held at the Town Hall, where he inaugurated the event. Alongside adherence to road safety standards, he said, ensuring quality roads remains a critical necessity. Eden also assured that the issues faced by the private transport sector would be raised in Parliament.
The meeting was presided over by CCOA Ernakulam Regional President P.D. Antony, with MVI Enforcement Inspector N. Vinodkumar delivering the keynote address. Ernakulam Joint RTO C.D. Arun attended as the guest of honor.
As part of the event, State President Binu John released Sanchaaram, a directory prepared by the association, while District President A.J. Rijaz oversaw membership distribution. District Secretary R. Anoop presented the education awards, and District Treasurer Jojo Augustin distributed prizes from the raffle draw.
Regional General Secretary P.A. Noushad, Vice President Baji Joseph, Treasurer Jijo Augustin, Patron Royston Joseph, Joint Secretaries O.S. Justin and Arjun, Executive Committee Member Johnson, and several others also spoke during the session.
