INS Sudarshini has embarked on a ten-month global voyage under the Lokayan 26 mission, symbolising India’s role as a maritime ambassador. The expedition aims to strengthen international friendship while showcasing India’s naval professionalism and rich seafaring heritage.
Kochi: The Indian Navy’s sail training ship INS Sudarshini has departed on Lokayan 26, a ten-month-long global ocean expedition. The voyage was flagged off by the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command, Vice Admiral Sameer Saxena, at a ceremonial function held at the Southern Naval Command in Kochi.
Vice Admiral Saxena described INS Sudarshini as India’s “global ambassador”, stating that the voyage aims to build “bridges of friendship” across oceans and borders worldwide. He also unveiled the Lokayan 26 commemorative plaque during the ceremony.
Senior naval officers, members of the naval fraternity, school students, and family members of the ship’s crew were present at the event.
Anchored in the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam and guided by the MahaSagar vision, the Lokayan 26 mission seeks to foster friendship beyond the seas. By showcasing India’s rich maritime heritage to the world, the expedition aims to promote cooperation and trust while highlighting India’s growing role in global maritime engagement and the Indian Navy’s enduring commitment to professional training and excellence in seamanship.
