The K.P.M.A. honored environmental sustainability and academic excellence by awarding ₹50,000 cash prizes, scholarships, and mementos at its 27th Annual Conference in Kochi.
Kochi: The Kerala Plastic Manufacturers Association (K.P.M.A.) hosted its 27th Annual Conference and distributed this year’s Environmental Awards. Kochi Mayor Adv. M. Anil Kumar inaugurated the event, emphasizing the critical role of investments in Kerala’s development. He highlighted the need for effective contributions from the business community toward societal upliftment and called for the establishment of a plastic recycling unit in Kochi under K.P.M.A.’s leadership.
The Environmental Awards recognized Clean Kerala Company from Pathanamthitta and Orion Polymers’ owner, Babu Madapparambil, from Kozhikode. Both received ₹50,000 cash prizes and mementos.
Outstanding students in polymer science were also honored during the event. M. Farsana and Ashley Eldho, B.Tech and M.Tech students from Cochin University who secured top marks in their courses, received cash awards. Additionally, scholarships were awarded to 15 students pursuing advanced studies in polymer science at Cochin University and CIPET (Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology).
The K.P.M.A. directory was officially released by BPCL Chief General Manager George Thomas.The event, held at the Renai Hotel in Kochi, was chaired by K.P.M.A. President J. Sunil. Distinguished speakers included CIPET Kochi Director Dr. K.A. Rajesh, K.P.M.A. Vice President Shahul Hameed, General Secretary P.B. I. Mohammed Ashraf, Treasurer E. Santhosh Kumar, and former Presidents P.J. Mathew and M.S. George. This initiative reflects K.P.M.A.’s commitment to fostering environmental sustainability and promoting academic excellence in polymer science.
