The Kerala Vyapari Vyavasayi Coordination Committee welcomes the Union Budget 2025, praising measures like reduced customs duties and increased TDS thresholds, while urging attention to traders’ demands.

Kochi: The Kerala Vyapari Vyavasayi Coordination Committee (KVVIES) has welcomed the Union Budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.Although there are no direct announcements for traders in the budget, the benefits extended to the middle-class society will positively impact small and medium-scale traders, said P.C. Jacob, the State Vice President and Ernakulam District President of KVVIES.

He appreciated the increase in the TDS threshold on building rent, the reduction of customs duty on frozen fish products from 30% to 5%, and the lowering of tariffs on electronic goods. However, Jacob urged that long-standing demands of Kerala’s traders, such as imposing a cess on online trade and regulating foreign monopolies, should also be considered in the budget discussions.
