Kochi: A training run was organized in preparation for the third edition of the Federal Bank Kochi Marathon, scheduled to be held on February 9 under the leadership of Cleo Sports. The event was conducted in collaboration with the prominent Kochi-based Orange Runners Club. The 10-kilometer training run commenced at 6 a.m. from Rajendra Maidan, flagged off jointly by Orange Runners Club President Rajan K.S., Vice President Krishnaprasad, Secretary Arun Krishnan, and Cleo Sports Director Aneesh Paul. Over 300 participants from various running clubs across Kerala joined the event.
In addition to Kochi-based clubs, running groups from districts like Kozhikode and Kollam also took part. The participating clubs included Ascent Runners, BRK Cycling Club, Cherai Runners, Chottanikkara Runners, Cochin Shipyard Runners, Fort Kochi Runners, Periyar Runners, Panampilly Nagar Runners, QR Runners, Calicut Royal Runners, Thrippunithura Royal Runners, Souls of Kochi, Souls of Kollam, Stadium Runners, and Vypin Runners.
The run, starting from Rajendra Maidan, followed a route through Foreshore Road, Lakshmi Hospital Road, Subhash Park, Marine Drive, High Court Junction, Prestige Junction, Queen’s Walkway and concluded back at the starting point.
The main theme of the marathon, set for February 9 at Marine Drive, is to promote the concept of a circular economy. The event, recognized by the Athletics Federation of India, will feature elite athletes from across the country as its highlight.
