In 2024, 1.1 million biryani orders were delivered via Swiggy. Chicken shawarma topped the list of light snacks.
Kochi: Swiggy’s data reveals that Kochi residents embrace both tradition and innovation when it comes to food. In Kochi, chicken biryani remains the most loved dish, along with non-veg strips, choco lava cakes, and South Indian breakfasts. According to Swiggy’s 2024 statistics, chicken biryani topped the list of favorites, with 1.1 million orders delivered through the platform. For light snacks, chicken shawarma claimed the top spot with 79,713 orders. Chicken rolls and chicken momos followed in second and third places, respectively. Among desserts, chocolate lava cake led with 19,381 orders, closely followed by chocolate cream cake.
When it comes to breakfast, dosa reigned supreme with 223,000 orders in 2024. Chickpea curry, poori, and idli are also top favorites for Kochi residents. In the sweet category, ghee Mysore pak, choco lava cake, milk cake, and kinnathappam were the most popular. Kochi’s love for sweets becomes particularly evident during Diwali, with white milk chocolate cake, cinnamon rolls, and palada payasam being the highlights of festive celebrations.
Swiggy recorded 3.1 million dinner orders this year. The highest single order was placed by a customer who spent ₹17,622 on 18 plates of spicy chicken mandi. Siddharth Baku, Chief Business Officer of Swiggy Food Marketplace, expressed delight in being part of Kochi’s celebrations. These statistics are based on data collected between January 1 and November 22, 2024.
