KSJA to Host Sports Conclave 2025 in October to Promote Sports and Journalism in Kerala

Kerala Sports Journalists Association (KSJA) announces state-level Sports Conclave in October 2025 to foster new talent and strengthen sports journalism. The association’s first general body elected office-bearers and honored veteran journalists P.T. Baby and U.H. Siddique.

Kochi: With the aim of advancing Kerala’s sports landscape, the Kerala Sports Journalists Association (KSJA) has announced that it will organize a state-level Sports Conclave in October 2025. The decision was taken during the association’s first general body meeting held at the Regional Sports Centre, Kadavanthra. The conclave intends to bring together key players from across the sports ecosystem—including athletes, administrators, media professionals, and policymakers—to foster collaboration and develop a vision for the future of sports in the state.

During the meeting, the newly formed executive committee of KSJA officially took charge. Stan Ryan (The Hindu) was elected as the President, C.K. Rajesh Kumar (Janmabhumi) as the Secretary, and Ashraf Thaivalapp (Chandrika) as the Treasurer. The Vice Presidents are Suneesh Thomas (Malayala Manorama) and Sanil Shah (Asianet News), while R. Ranjith (Deshabhimani) and Siraj Kasim (Mathrubhumi) were appointed as Joint Secretaries.

The Executive Committee also includes Prashanth Menon (Times of India), Joseph Mathew (Mathrubhumi), N.S. Nisar (Madhyamam), Joby George (Asianet News), Vinod Damodaran (Janmabhumi), Praveen Chandran (The Hindu), Jeena Paul (Manorama News), M.G. Lijo (Dhanam), Aneesh Alakkode (Deepika), Sam Prasad David (Kerala Kaumudi), Anoop Shanmughan (Reporter), and Jayesh Pookkottur (Mathrubhumi News). Veteran journalists Kamal Varadoor (Chandrika), Antony John (Malayala Manorama), K. Vishwanath (Mathrubhumi), Anil Adoor, and Joy Nair (Jaihind News) have been named as patrons of the association.

KSJA office bearers stated that the primary objectives of the association are to identify and nurture emerging sports talents in Kerala and to strengthen the presence and professionalism of sports journalism in the state. The meeting also paid heartfelt tributes to late veteran sports journalists P.T. Baby and U.H. Siddique, recalling their contributions to the field.

The inaugural session was presided over by President Stan Ryan and formally opened by the association’s patrons with a cake-cutting ceremony. Secretary C.K. Rajesh Kumar presented the report on the organization’s vision and future plans. Prominent media and sports personalities including RSC Secretary S.A.S. Navas, KUWJ State Secretary Suresh Edappal, Ernakulam Press Club Secretary M. Shajil Kumar, and several KSJA executive members delivered addresses highlighting the importance of such an initiative for the future of sports and sports media in Kerala.
