Milma has increased the milk incentive price to ₹15 per liter from February 1, 2025, benefiting over 1,000 dairy societies in the Ernakulam region.
Kochi: Milma Ernakulam District Union has decided to increase the incentive price for each liter of milk collected from the union’s societies. Starting from February 1, 2025, the incentive price will be raised from ₹10 (which was applicable from August 11, 2024, to January 31, 2025) to ₹15 per liter, as per the decision taken by the Board of Directors, announced Chairman Shri. Valsalan Pillai. This increased price will benefit more than 1,000 primary dairy societies in Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kottayam, and Idukki districts, with both farmers and societies gaining from it. Of the ₹15, ₹8 will go to the farmers and ₹7 to the societies, with ₹1 of the ₹7 going to the area union share.
The Area Union aims to provide the highest possible incentive price to farmers and societies. Milma Ernakulam District Union is offering the highest incentive price when compared to other dairy unions in India. The expected expenditure on this incentive will be ₹24 crore from the union’s operational profit. The chairman also mentioned that additional training programs for farmers in the farming sector will be organized.
Milma Ernakulam District Union, which has been operating efficiently through diversification and strong performance, continues to progress with ongoing and new initiatives launched by the previous board. Milma Ernakulam District Union is also expanding its network with the launch of the second Milma Refresh Restaurant in Thrissur, next to the Milma Training Center. The restaurant will begin operations by March 31. The bakery unit, which was successfully launched in Chalakudy, is also part of the diversification efforts and will soon expand to Muvattupuzha and Marangattupally, the chairman added.
