On December 29, 12000 Bharatanatyam dancers will grace the stage at Kaloor with a mesmerizing performance, aiming for a Guinness World Record, and showcasing the divine beauty of Indian classical dance.
Kochi: The much-awaited “Kailasam” event, featuring a record-breaking performance of 12,000 Bharatanatyam dancers, is all set to take place on December 29 at the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium, Kochi. The event, organized by Mrdanga Vishnu, promises to be a grand celebration of Indian classical dance and culture.
The performance will be led by renowned actress Divya Unni, with music composed by Deepankuran and sung by Anoop Shankar, set to the lyrics of Padma Shri Keerthapram Damodaran Namboothiri. Dressed in traditional Neelam-colored sarees designed by Kalyan Silks, the 12,000 dancers are expected to create a stunning visual spectacle. The organizers aim to set a new Guinness World Record with this performance.
Cultural Minister Saji Cherian will inaugurate the event, and the evening will feature performances by prominent dancers and choreographers. Joy Alukkas, Chief Patron of the event, along with other dignitaries such as Sijo Varghese and Nighosh Kumar, will be present. The program will begin at 3 PM with the opening of the venue, followed by a grand cultural evening starting at 6 PM.
In addition to the main performance, the event will honor leading dance schools and Gurus from Kerala, including Kalamandalam, Kalakshetra, RLV, and Lasya. Participants include dancers from over 50 countries, including GCC countries, Australia, the UK, the USA, and Canada. The event also provides a platform for both young and veteran dancers, reflecting the inclusive nature of the performance.
