Reliance Jio Set to Become World’s Largest Fixed Wireless Access Provider

Reliance Jio is set to become the world’s largest Fixed Wireless Access provider by surpassing T-Mobile with over 6.88 million users.

Kochi: Reliance Jio is preparing to become the world’s largest Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) service provider based on user base, according to an analysis report by analysts at ICICI Securities, citing data from TRAI. Jio is on track to surpass US-based T-Mobile in this segment. As per the latest TRAI report, Jio’s total 5G FWA user base stood at 6.88 million (68.8 lakh) in May. However, after reclassifying around 1 million users from FWA to its Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) category, Jio’s active FWA user base in May was 5.9 million (59 lakh). Even so, Jio added 740,000 (7.4 lakh) new users in May alone.

The report prepared by ICICI Securities analysts Sanjesh Jain, Mohit Mishra, and Aparajita Chakraborty, based on TRAI data, noted that the total number of FWA users in the industry (excluding UBR – User Base Reclassification) stands at 7.4 million (74 lakh), while Jio’s reclassified base remains at 5.9 million. Including UBR, Jio’s FWA user base is 6.88 million, which already exceeds T-Mobile’s 6.85 million FWA users reported in March 2025. The report asserts that by the end of June 2025, Jio will undoubtedly emerge as the world’s largest FWA service provider. Jio’s dominance in India’s broadband market is further emphasized by its 50.72% market share. As of May 2025, Jio has 13.5 million (1.35 crore) wired broadband users and 480.9 million (48.09 crore) wireless broadband users.
