According to Udayan Joshi, Chief Operating Officer of SBI General Insurance, the policy is designed to cover damages that vehicles may suffer due to conditions like waterlogging and floods, which are common during the rainy season. The policy allows vehicle owners to claim damages that occur in such scenarios, offering critical financial support during unpredictable weather conditions.
For electric vehicle (EV) users, SBI General also offers a battery coverage add-on or rider feature, which is not commonly available with other insurers. This optional cover ensures EV owners are not left unprotected when battery-related issues arise due to seasonal or environmental challenges.
While having insurance is essential, Udayan Joshi emphasized the importance of caution while driving during monsoon. He advised avoiding travel through waterlogged areas and inspecting essential components such as lights, brakes, and tires before every trip. Practicing safe and alert driving remains the first and best line of defense against mishaps.
