Thiruvairanikkulam Temple’s Natathurappu Mahotsavam 2025 offers spiritual rituals, virtual queue systems, eco-friendly arrangements, and free meals from January 12 to 23
Kalady: The Thiruvairanikkulam Mahadeva Temple will celebrate the annual Natathurappu Mahotsavam (opening of the sanctum sanctorum for devotees) from January 12 to January 23. Temple committee members, including President P.U. Radhakrishnan, Secretary A.N. Mohanan, Vice President Nandakumar, Publicity Convener M.S. Ashokan, and Adur Mana Karana Kunjanunjan Namboothiripad, announced the festival details in a press conference.
The festival begins on January 12 at 4:30 PM with a Thiruvabharanaghoshayatra (procession of sacred ornaments) from the Sreerama Swamy Temple at Akavoor Mana, accompanied by traditional musical ensembles and floral displays. The sanctum sanctorum will ceremonially open at 8:00 PM, and devotees can offer prayers until 10:00 PM. Dance performances and traditional rituals such as Thiruvathira Kali will follow.
During the festival, the temple will be open daily for darshan from 4:00 AM to 9:00 PM. To manage the large influx of devotees, pavilions spanning 50,000 square feet have been arranged for queues. In alignment with the Haritha Protocol, single-use plastics are prohibited, and devotees are requested to adhere to eco-friendly practices.
Virtual Queue and Offerings System
The temple has introduced a Virtual Queue system to facilitate advance booking for darshan. Devotees can book their preferred date and time via the temple website, www.thiruvairanikkulamtemple.org. Special counters will be available for offerings such as Pattu, Pudava, Innapudava, Thali, Thottil, and Valkannadi. Traditional offerings like Pushpanjali and Dhara can also be performed.
To ensure smooth operations, police personnel, private security guards, and volunteers will assist devotees. Arrangements for key rituals and prasadam, including Aravana Payasam, Appam, and Aval, are in place. Devotees can also receive prasadam kits. Free meals will be served daily from 9:30 AM at the Annadanam Mandapam.
Special KSRTC Services
Special buses will operate from KSRTC depots in Aluva, Perumbavoor, Angamaly, and Chalakudy. Long-distance buses under pilgrimage packages will also be available. Security measures, including the deployment of police, fire and rescue teams, and excise officials, will ensure safety. Health facilities near the temple, such as Marampilly PHC and Sreemoolanagaram FHC, are equipped for emergencies. Devotees can use the Periyar river’s sacred bathing spot, the temple’s Arattu Kadavu.
Parking Arrangements
The temple has designated six parking grounds for vehicles, along with private parking options. Large vehicles from southern districts can approach via Aluva-Angamaly Road or Aluva-Perumbavoor KSRTC Road. Smaller vehicles can utilize parking at Souparnika Ground after crossing Marampilly Bridge. Virtual queue ticket holders can validate their bookings at designated counters at Kailasam, Souparnika, and Thiruvairanikkulam Junction for entry passes.
