Thrippunithura: Scripting a new chapter in the state’s co-operative banking sector through outstanding operational excellence, the Thrippunithura-headquartered People’s Urban Co-operative Bank has surpassed a historic business milestone of ₹2,000 crores. The bank has successfully retained its record as the highest-deposit bank in the ‘Tier-3’ category (banks with deposits above ₹1,000 crores) among over 57 urban co-operative banks in Kerala. Having once again bagged the state government’s award for the best urban co-operative bank, People’s Urban Bank has also secured special permission from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to open NRI accounts for expatriates. Currently operating with 27 branches across Ernakulam district, the bank provides state-of-the-art digital banking services, including UPI, IMPS, and mobile banking, on par with leading public and private sector banks.
As a continuation of its modernization efforts, the bank’s branch near the Thoppumpady B.O.T. Bridge has been upgraded with ultra-modern facilities and will be inaugurated on July 24 by Bank President T.C. Shibu. Bank management officials announced in a press conference that the dividend for the 2025-26 financial year will be declared at the annual general body meeting scheduled for July 26. Additionally, children of bank members and employees who achieved top honors in the SSLC and Higher Secondary examinations will be honored with cash awards during the ceremony.
