While internal bleeding has not worsened, lung injuries have slightly increased, according to the medical bulletin.
Kochi: Despite slight improvements in her condition, Uma Thomas remains on a ventilator as her lung injuries require continued intensive care. A medical bulletin issued by the hospital revealed that her vital signs are stable, but damage to the lungs necessitates prolonged ventilator support.
A CT scan conducted this morning confirmed that her head injuries have not worsened significantly. However, the lung bruises have slightly increased, although no further internal bleeding has been detected. Scanning of the abdomen revealed no additional complications. Efforts are focused on improving lung function, supported by antibiotics and other treatments.
In addition to the hospital’s medical board, a specialized team of doctors from Kottayam and Ernakulam Medical Colleges, led by Kottayam Medical College Superintendent Dr. Jayakumar, has been appointed by the government to oversee her treatment.
Uma Thomas suffered severe injuries after falling approximately 20 feet from the gallery at the Kaloor Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium during the inauguration of a Bharatanatyam event featuring 12,000 dancers aiming for a Guinness record. The MLA hit the concrete upon falling and was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Kochi.
While her condition remains critical, the medical team is optimistic about steady recovery, though further updates will depend on her progress over the next few days.
