VFEE Introduces Life-Sized Robotic Elephant for Temple Rituals in Thrissur

VFEE has launched Shivashakti, a robotic elephant, at a Thrissur temple, ensuring a cruelty-free and safe alternative for traditional rituals.

Thrissur: In a groundbreaking initiative for elephant welfare and public safety, Voice for Elephants (VFEE) has introduced a life-sized robotic elephant at Chakkamparambu Sri Bhagavathi Temple near Mala, Thrissur. The robotic elephant, named Shivashakti, aims to replace live elephants in temple rituals while maintaining tradition.

Standing 10 feet tall and weighing 600 kg, Shivashakti is made of fiber and rubber, with electrically operated eyes, ears, tail, and trunk. Designed to carry up to four people, it ensures temple ceremonies continue without disruption.

The robotic elephant was crafted by Chalakudy-based Four Hearts Creations. VFEE had previously introduced Tamil Nadu’s first robotic elephant at Sree Shankaran Kovil, a Malayalam temple on the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border, before launching this project in Thrissur.

VFEE representative and Thrissur Heritage Animal Task Force Secretary V.K. Venkatachalam participated in the event.
