Kochi: Leading telecom operator Vi has launched ‘Number Rakshak’ at the Maha Kumbh Mela to help pilgrims stay connected and avoid getting lost in the massive gathering. As part of this initiative, Vi is distributing sacred Rudraksha-Tulsi bead necklaces engraved with emergency contact numbers of family members or friends, ensuring a reliable way for pilgrims to reconnect without relying on mobile phones or internet connectivity.
The ‘Number Rakshak’ booth has been set up near the Swami Ramanand Acharya Shibir Akhada, where devotees can receive these special necklaces free of cost. Avneesh Khosla, Chief Marketing Officer of Vi, emphasized that this initiative provides an innovative and trustworthy solution for pilgrims in case they lose their way.
To ensure uninterrupted connectivity for Vi users attending the Maha Kumbh Mela, the telecom provider has significantly enhanced its network infrastructure. Vi has deployed 30 new sites at Triveni Sangam and 40 additional macro and high-power small cells across key locations. Additionally, 32 kilometers of fiber have been laid to strengthen backhaul connectivity in high-traffic areas. These upgrades aim to provide seamless voice calls, uninterrupted video streaming, and high-speed data transfer, ensuring a smooth digital experience for visitors.
