VPS Lakeshore Hospital, Kochi, has inaugurated AAVAS, the state’s first specialized center for diagnosing and treating airway, voice, and swallowing disorders.
Kochi: Kerala’s first Advanced Center for Airway, Voice, and Swallowing Disorders (AAVAS) has been inaugurated at VPS Lakeshore Hospital, Kochi, offering state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment facilities for respiratory, esophageal, and voice disorders.
AAVAS is designed to provide comprehensive care under one roof for conditions affecting the vocal cords, esophagus, and airway. The center was officially inaugurated by renowned actress and television presenter Jewel Mary, with VPS Lakeshore Managing Director S.K. Abdullah presiding over the event.
The center specializes in treating vocal cord disorders, swallowing difficulties (dysphagia), chronic cough, airway stenosis, speech impairments, and throat cancers. According to S.K. Abdullah, AAVAS is led by a team of expert doctors and is equipped with cutting-edge diagnostic tools and advanced treatment techniques.
Some of the key diagnostic technologies available at AAVAS include video stroboscopy and fiber-optic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES), ensuring accurate assessment and personalized treatment planning. The facility also offers laser surgeries, specialized treatments for voice disorders, and customized voice therapy programs, reinforcing its commitment to delivering high-quality, specialized care.
