Kerala’s elderly population is steadily rising, and with the increase in nuclear families, the need for stronger systems to support and protect senior citizens is becoming more urgent, observed T.K.A. Nair.
Kochi: The first international conference of Young Minds International commenced in Kochi with a formal inauguration by T.K.A. Nair, former Principal Secretary to former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. Addressing the gathering, Nair noted that the number of senior citizens in Kerala is increasing rapidly, and with the growth of nuclear families, there is an urgent need for systems and mechanisms to ensure their care and protection.
Dr. K.C. Samuel, President of Young Minds International, delivered the keynote address, while Isaac Palathingal, Convention Chairman, presided over the session. Prominent entrepreneur Gokulam Gopalan was felicitated on the occasion. Other speakers included Mathewkutty Sebastian (International Secretary General), Santhosh George (Organizing Committee Chairman), Jose Alphons (Regional Chairman), T.K. Ramesh Kumar, I.C. Raju, Anto K. Antony, Subrahmanya Raju Betan, K.S. Biju Mon, Jacob Cherian, and M. Skariachan.
The Women’s and Youth Conference that followed was inaugurated by Ummar Thomas, MLA, with journalist R. Sreekandan Nair delivering the keynote address. On the concluding day, Sunday, September 28, 2025, a business dialogue titled “Business Connect” will be held at 9:30 a.m. with leading industry figures including V.K. Mathews, Chairman of IBS Group, and Dr. Paul Thomas, Chairman of ESAF. The session will be moderated by journalist Hashmi Taj Ibrahim.
Later at 11:30 a.m., the installation of the newly elected office bearers of Young Minds International will take place, with Dr. K.C. Samuel as International President, Mathukutty Sebastian as Secretary General, Antony Joseph as Treasurer, and Daniel Thomas as Bulletin Editor.
