The leaders also informed that the state convention of the organization will be organized on a grand scale in Ernakulam in the second week of August.
KOCHI: The office-bearers of the All Kerala Gold and Silver Merchants’ Association (AKGSMA), in a press conference held on 3rd July 2026 at the Ernakulam Press Club, stated that the organization will take legal action against two individuals who are organizing an exhibition at the Angamaly Adlux Convention Center by misusing the association’s name. Two individuals, K. Surendran and S. Abdul Nazar, have been expelled from AKGSMA due to anti-organizational activities. There is an unequivocal verdict from the High Court stating that no one else has the right to use the name, logo, or letterhead of AKGSMA, an organization formed in 1945. However, these two individuals have organized the exhibition by misleading the public, creating a letterhead with the name “Kerala Gold and Silver Merchants’ Association” and designating themselves as President and General Secretary. No organization has been registered in Kerala with them as office-bearers under this name. They have thus deceived even the Chief Minister and other ministers. AKGSMA is the body that has been determining the daily retail price of gold for years across all South Indian states. State President Justin Palathra, State Working President P.C. Roy, General Secretary K.M. Jaleel, and Working Secretary Joy Pazhemadam stated that the organization will move forward with strong legal actions against the individuals misusing the name of this highly credible association. The leaders also informed that the state convention of the organization will be organized on a grand scale in Ernakulam in the second week of August.
