The executive committee office-bearers of Thirike 96′ expressed that this reunion to renew campus friendships after a long wait of 30 years brings immense excitement

Thrissur : Alumni of the 1996 batch of Thrissur Government Engineering College are gearing up to walk back into the beautiful memories of their campus days three decades ago. The grand reunion, titled ‘Thirike 96’, will bring together over 400 classmates from various engineering disciplines who are currently thriving as professionals across nearly 16 countries. The event will take place on18th of July 2026, at the college’s Millennium Hall under one roof.

Starting at 8:30 AM, the event—led by Trust Committee President Sudhi Bhushan, Secretary Jeevan Joy, Treasurer Subash Mullanezhi, Vice President Sindhu Augustin, Trust Author Sabu Raman, and Program Head Ramesh Prabhu—will be inaugurated by College Principal Dr. A.R. Jayan.

The launch of the ‘GECT 1996 Trust’, formed as part of the alumni initiative, will be inaugurated by College Alumni Patron Prof. Krishnakumar, while the trust logo release will be performed by Dr. K.B. Minu Dath, Medical Director of Arya Eye Care. Under the auspices of the trust, study materials will be distributed to children from nearby panchayats, alongside free eye check-ups and spectacles distribution for those in need. Sreeranj, an alumnus and Managing Director of Vishram Builders, is also at the forefront of driving the event’s success.

The press conference was attended by Thirike 96 Committee President Sudhi Bhushan, Secretary Jeevan Joy, Treasurer Subash Mullanezhi, Vice Presidents Sindhu Augustin and Anil K. Augustin, Trust Author Sabu Raman, Program Head Ramesh Prabhu, Joint Secretaries Jayson John and A.C. Sharada Devi, Corporate Connect Anjali Nair, and Sponsorship Coordinator C. Sreeranj.

GECT 1996 Trust: Vision and Mission

The GECT 1996 Trust aims to foster a new culture of mutual cooperation among classmates of the 1996 batch of Government Engineering College, Thrissur, thereby creating a sustainable social legacy that can serve as a model for future generations. The primary mission of the Trust is to strengthen the bond of friendship and unity among the alumni of this batch. Alongside this, the Trust aims to extend timely assistance to classmates and their families facing life’s challenges, while strictly ensuring their complete privacy and dignity.

Going beyond being just a friendly gathering, the Trust envisions making significant contributions to society through educational and environmental conservation, charitable activities, and local community development. Another core objective is to leverage the collective knowledge and extensive professional experience of the alumni to provide effective mentoring to the new generation of students and young professionals. To ensure that these welfare and service activities continue seamlessly for future generations, the office-bearers stated that the Trust also aims to build a robust and sustainable Corpus Fund.
