Kochi: In a joint initiative to combat the rise of seasonal illnesses, the Kochi Corporation, the Department of Community Medicine at Kaloor Amrita Urban Health Centre, and the Ashram Lane Residents Association jointly organised a public awareness rally. Focused on the theme “Prevent Mosquito Bites and Waterborne Diseases; Stay Safe,” the campaign aimed to educate the public on effective preventive measures during the monsoon season. Dr. S. Navami, Administrative Medical Officer of the Amrita Urban Centre, officially inaugurated the rally.
The event saw active leadership and participation from prominent medical professionals and community leaders, including Dr. Elizabeth Roy, Dr. K.A.S. Devanand, Dr. P. Devikrishna, Dr. B. Tharakalyani, and Dr. Athulya Satheesh. Mathachan George Mampilly, Secretary of the Ashram Lane Residents Association, and former Division Councillor Rajani Mani were also present. Key healthcare staff, including health educator R. Ratheeshkumar, health inspectors A. Animol and Anjitha Ravi, medical social worker Greeshma S. Kumar, and public health nurse Chris Magdalen, coordinated the event alongside active members of the Amrita Yoga Club and Amrita Vayojana (Senior Citizens) Club to ensure the campaign’s success.
