Kochi: The grand Onam celebration “ICL Onnichonam Ponnonam 2026,” organised by the citizens of Irinjalakuda under the leadership of ICL Fincorp, a leading non-banking financial company headquartered in Irinjalakuda, will be inaugurated by Chief Minister V. D. Satheesan at 3 p.m. on August 23. The inaugural ceremony will be presided over by Adv. K. G. Anil Kumar, CMD of ICL Fincorp. O. J. Janish, Minister for Youth Welfare, will be the chief guest. Uma Anil Kumar, Whole-Time Director and CEO of ICL Fincorp, Bishop Poly Kannookadan, former minister R. Bindu, MLAs representing various constituencies in Thrissur district, and the Chairman of Irinjalakuda Municipality will also address the gathering.
A colourful cultural procession will be a major highlight of the celebrations. The procession will begin near Koodalmanikyam Temple, pass through Thanavu, and conclude at the Municipal Ground. Traditional and contemporary performances, including Pulikali, Kummattikali, flash mobs, Thiruvathirakali, tableaux and Onam-themed fancy dress, along with traditional musical performances, will add to the festive atmosphere. The celebrations will also feature a Big Screen Award Evening in the presence of prominent personalities from the film industry. An art festival led by popular film actress Asha Sharath is another major attraction of the programme.
The details were announced at a press conference held in Kochi by Thomas Unniyadan MLA, Adv. K. G. Anil Kumar, CMD of ICL Fincorp, CEO Uma Anil Kumar, CFO Madhavankutty Thekkedath, and Company Secretary T. V. Vaishakh. The organisers said that more than 30,000 people are expected to participate in the celebrations. Entry to the event will be regulated through passes.
