KARZOK (LADAKH) : In a major milestone for youth adventure and women empowerment, 20 National Cadet Corps (NCC) girl cadets selected from across India successfully completed the flagship high-altitude expedition, ‘Aparajita – Parang La 2026’. The month-long trek was officially flagged-in at Karzok, Ladakh, on September 16, 2026, by Director General NCC Lt Gen Virendra Vats and Additional Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Smt Dipti Mohil Chawla. Originally flagged-off by Union Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh from New Delhi on August 18, 2026, the team traversed approximately 250 kilometers over 30 days.
The grueling route from Kibber in Himachal Pradesh to Karzok in Ladakh took the cadets through glaciers, snowfields, and river valleys, crossing the formidable Parang La Pass at an elevation of 5,578 meters (18,300 feet). Accompanied by experienced officers, medical personnel, and instructors, the expedition aimed to foster leadership, endurance, teamwork, and national integration while promoting female participation in high-altitude adventure sports.
