Kochi: As part of World Head & Neck Cancer Day observances, the Centre of Excellence in Head & Neck Surgery and Oncology at Aster Medcity, Kochi, organized a special gathering and art exhibition titled ‘Uyare’. Held at the Aster Medcity Knowledge Hub under the theme ‘Together We Rise’, the event featured T.J. Vinod MLA and renowned music director Jakes Bejoy as chief guests.
An art exhibition by Shivanji, an artist and tongue cancer survivor, was a major highlight of the event. Having overcome speaking difficulties following his surgery, the exhibition showcased his emotions and resilience expressed through his artwork. The event also marked the official launch of ‘AAWAAS’ (Advanced Center for Airway, Voice and Swallowing), a new specialized unit offering state-of-the-art care for voice, airway, and swallowing disorders.
Dr. Shawn T. Joseph, Senior Consultant and Program Director of the Head & Neck Oncology Network, Aster Medcity Kerala Cluster, stated that the event was organized to honor the bravery and spirit of head and neck cancer survivors while raising public awareness about the disease. Aster Medcity CEO Dr. Nalanda Jayadev, COO Dr. Shuhaib Khader, alongside senior doctors, management representatives, and staff members, were present at the event.
