Kochi : FACE Foundation, a voluntary organisation that has been serving the community from Gandhinagar, Ernakulam, for the past 16 years, distributed Onam kits to 200 families facing difficulties in leading their daily lives due to physical disabilities and illness. The distribution of the kits was inaugurated by K. A. Siauddeen, State General Secretary of the Supermarket Welfare Association of Kerala (SWAK). The Onam celebrations organised at FACE Foundation, Gandhinagar, were inaugurated by Jorfin Petta, State President of SWAK. FACE Foundation Chief Patron Prof. Monamma Kokkad, President T. R. Devan, Kuruvila Mathews, SWAK District President Abdul Azeez, K.P. Sivadas, Sahal Edappally, M.G. Sreejith, Kumbalam Ravi, Division Councillor Nirmala Teacher, K.V. Sabu, R.Girish and Rajendraprasad addressed the gathering. T. J. Vinod MLA served the Onam feast, while film actress Anjana Kurup and Pradeep Palluruthy distributed Onam clothes to the beneficiaries. Cultural programmes were presented under the leadership of singers Pradeep Palluruthy, Shiju Anjumana, P.J. Sebastian and prominent dubbing artist Siju Chalakudy. FACE Foundation has been providing free food every day for the past 16 years to people living in extremely difficult circumstances, including those who collect waste from the streets of Kochi for their livelihood, people who have lost their mental balance and ended up on the streets without knowing their homes or surroundings, and those who have no place to sleep and spend their nights on shop verandas. The organisation continues its efforts to support people living without family or other forms of assistance at the most vulnerable levels of society.
