KOCHI: As part of the Indian Navy’s ongoing overseas operational deployment to the Western Indian Ocean and Mediterranean region, front-line guided missile frigate INS Trishul made a strategic port call at Alexandria, Egypt, from September 14 to 17, 2026. The vessel was accorded a warm ceremonial welcome upon arrival, escorted into Alexandria Harbour by the Egyptian Naval Ship Al Qadeer. Commemorating the historic military ties between both nations, the Commanding Officer and crew of INS Trishul visited the Chatby War Memorial to pay solemn homage to fallen heroes of the First and Second World Wars, where 12 Indian soldiers are interred and 19 others are commemorated after losing their lives aboard ships sunk in the Eastern Mediterranean.
His Excellency Suresh K. Reddy, Ambassador of India to Egypt, visited the warship during her harbor stay, interacting with the crew and emphasizing the vital strategic role played by the Indian Navy in maintaining maritime security and regional stability. Upon concluding the port visit, INS Trishul conducted a comprehensive Passage Exercise (PASSEX) at sea with Egyptian Navy Ship ENS Bernees. The joint naval exercise featured complex tactical maneuvering drills, cross-flag communication exercises, and replenishment-at-sea approaches, providing valuable opportunities for both navies to exchange professional expertise, enhance operational interoperability, and reinforce the enduring maritime alliance between India and Egypt.
