Kochi: Sun Network has launched Sun NXT Shorts, a new micro-drama platform designed to offer a visual entertainment experience in line with the changing viewing habits of audiences. Developed with viewers in the southern Indian states in mind, Sun NXT Shorts is designed for both mobile devices and television. The platform focuses on storytelling in the shortest possible format and marks the company’s entry into the rapidly growing micro-entertainment segment among digital-generation audiences.
The key feature of the format is its short-form narrative style, which is designed to draw viewers deeply into a story within just a few minutes. According to the company, the platform primarily aims to showcase locally rooted stories emerging from different parts of South India.
Television serials from Surya TV and Sun Network, popular films, dubbed international shorts and original series owned by Sun Network will be presented on the platform as quick-to-watch episodes of shorter duration. The company said the content has been structured in formats suited to the devices used by viewers, including mobile phones and televisions. Sun Network also claimed that Sun NXT Shorts will emerge as a leading destination for short-form entertainment in South Indian languages.
