News Delhi : The Union Govt closely monitoring the situation arising from the flash floods in Nepal, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah confirming that the Indian government stands in full solidarity with Nepal during this crisis. In a statement on X, the Home Minister expressed deep condolences to affected families and confirmed held discussions with the Chief Ministers of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh to put border administration teams, local authorities, and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) on high alert. Triggered by suspected GLOF activity near the Nepal-China border, water levels rose sharply in the Trishuli river, posing a downstream impact on India’s Gandak river. While officials from key ministries—including Home, External Affairs, Jal Shakti, and Defence—continue to assess the situation, the Central Water Commission reported that water levels in Nepal reservoirs are receding and the situation remains under control without cause for panic. For stranded Indian tourists, the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu has activated dedicated emergency helplines (+977 985 131 6807 and +977 970 910 7500) to assist those in need.
