Aster Medcity and Wisdom4Future Initiative Make Vadi Husna Public School Kerala’s First Fully Trained First-Responder School

KOZHIKODE: Marking Teachers’ Day, Vadi Husna Public School has become the first educational institution in Kerala where the entire teaching and non-teaching staff have been certified as First Responders. The joint initiative, led by Aster Medcity and the Wisdom4Future Initiative of the Wisdom Development Foundation, equips the entire school workforce to deliver critical, lifesaving interventions during medical emergencies on campus.

Recognizing that immediate action during the first few minutes of a medical emergency—such as cardiac arrest—is vital before professional medical help arrives, the program provided comprehensive theoretical and hands-on instruction. The school staff completed specialized training in Basic Life Support (BLS), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), choking management, and key emergency response protocols.

The training was conducted under Mission 100K, a public outreach campaign by the Wisdom4Future Initiative aiming to empower at least one lakh citizens across Kerala with CPR and BLS capabilities. Organizers emphasized that true school safety extends beyond physical infrastructure to having trained personnel capable of taking immediate action when a life is at risk. Aster Medcity and the Wisdom4Future Initiative plan to scale this program across schools statewide to achieve their vision of “Every School – First Responders”.
