Kochi: Yamaha Motor India has launched the new YZF-R2 motorcycle in India, marking the model’s global debut in the country. Priced at ₹2,30,500 (ex-showroom) for the base variant, the YZF-R2 will be available in three variants and five colour options at Yamaha Blue Square dealerships from mid-September.
The YZF-R2 is Yamaha’s first model in the 200cc segment and is powered by a new 204cc engine producing 26.5 PS of power and 19.1 Nm of torque. Weighing 149 kg, the motorcycle comes equipped with a range of advanced features, including a bi-directional quick shifter, traction control, dual-channel ABS, three riding modes and a 5-inch TFT display.
The quick-shifter variant is priced at ₹2,39,500, while the top-end YZF-R2 M is priced at ₹2,53,000. The YZF-R2 M also features additional premium equipment, including adjustable suspension.
Yamaha said more than one million R-Series motorcycles are already on Indian roads and expressed confidence that the YZF-R2 will mark a new beginning for the company’s R-Series portfolio in the country.
