Ernakulam Medical Trust Hospital introduces a modern Radial Lounge to enhance comfort and care for cardiac patients undergoing angiograms. The facility, to be inaugurated by Kerala Assembly Speaker A.N. Shamseer, offers same-day discharge and reduced recovery time.
Kochi: In a significant advancement in cardiac care, Ernakulam Medical Trust Hospital is set to launch its state-of-the-art Radial Lounge, designed specifically for heart patients requiring angiograms through major arteries. The facility will be officially inaugurated by Kerala Legislative Assembly Speaker A.N. Shamseer at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 13, at the hospital’s South Block.
The event will be presided over by Dr. P.V. Louis, Managing Director of the hospital. Directors Dr. P.V. Thomas and Mr. P.V. Xavier, along with senior cardiologists including Dr. Rajasekhar Varma, Dr. Saji V. Kuruttukulam, Dr. Manu R. Varma, Dr. K.S. Gopakumar, and Dr. Arun Kumar Gopalakrishna Pillai, will also participate in the ceremony.
The Radial Lounge is specially designed to provide a stress-free and comfortable environment for patients before and after undergoing angiogram procedures. It aims to reduce patient anxiety and enhance the overall treatment experience.
The lounge will offer comprehensive care under a dedicated team of cardiologists, nurses, and technicians. Patients scheduled for angiograms will first be brought to the lounge for psychological preparation, after which the procedure will be carried out. Post-procedure, they will be returned to the lounge for monitoring, guidance on further treatment, and eventual discharge—all within the same setting.
A key highlight of the Radial Lounge is the option for same-day discharge with a pleasant recovery experience. Radial artery-based interventions significantly reduce the risk of bleeding and related complications, while also enabling patients to walk and resume normal activity much faster than conventional methods.
In conjunction with the lounge’s inauguration, the hospital is offering day-care angiogram services at a special rate of just ₹10,000 for the next three months, announced Dr. P.V. Louis.
