Dr. Alwin Antony, Associate Professor and Joint Secretary of IMA Cochin, will represent India in sprint events at the World Medical and Health Games 2025 in Spain. A national medalist, he trains under Asian Games gold medalist Joseph G. Abraham.
Kochi (06.06.25): Dr. Alwin Antony, Associate Professor in Community Medicine at Government Medical College, Idukki, and the Joint Secretary of IMA Cochin, will represent India in sprint events at the World Medical and Health Games to be held in Lloret de Mar, near Barcelona, Spain this June.
He will be competing in the 100m and 200m sprint events. Dr. Alwin was the silver medalist in both events at the IMA National Sports Meets held in Vijayawada (2023) and Aurangabad (2024). He also clinched the gold medal at the MAC Open National Masters Athletics Championships 2025. Known as the “Olympics for healthcare professionals,” the World Medical Games brings together participants from over 50 countries. In preparation for the competition, Dr. Alwin has been undergoing intensive training under Joseph G. Abraham, Asian Games gold medalist and Arjuna Award recipient.
Ahead of his departure to Spain, a jersey handover ceremony was held at IMA Cochin. President Dr. Jacob Abraham presented the Indian jersey to Dr. Alwin in the presence of Secretary Dr. Sachin Suresh, Treasurer Dr. Benzir Hussein, President-Elect Dr. Atul Joseph Manuel, and former President Dr. M. M. Haneesh.
