KOCHI : The Coir Board, functioning under the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India, has announced admissions for its upcoming Coir Artisan in Coir Technology certificate course (NSQF Level 3). Designed to foster skill development and rural entrepreneurship, the program comprises six months of technical classroom training followed by a one-month internship. Selected trainees will receive a stipend of ₹3,000 per month throughout the course duration, with the final deadline for submitting applications set for August 10, 2026.
To be eligible, applicants must be between 18 and 50 years of age and possess basic literacy (reading and writing). In accordance with official guidelines, 20% of the seats are reserved for SC/ST candidates, and preference will be given to individuals sponsored by coir factories or coir co-operative societies under the Coir Industry (R) Rules, 2008. Training will be conducted at three board facilities: the National Coir Training and Design Centre in Alappuzha, Kerala (starting September 2026), the Coir Board Regional Extension Centre in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu (starting September 2026), and the Coir Board Regional Office in Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh (starting October 2026). Free hostel accommodation is provided for female candidates at Alappuzha and for all candidates at Thanjavur, while male trainees at Alappuzha and all trainees at Rajahmundry residing outside will receive an allowance reimbursement of ₹500 per month.
