KOCHI: Marking World Occupational Therapy Day, the Prayatna Centre for Child Development launched ‘Kidsight’, a free mobile application designed to help parents evaluate and track their children’s growth and developmental milestones. The digital app was officially unveiled by Kochi Corporation Mayor Adv. V.K. Minimol during the ‘Oppam’ program held at Oberon Mall.
Addressing the gathering, Mayor Adv. V.K. Minimol noted that in today’s hectic lifestyle, parents often miss critical developmental milestones in children. Emphasizing early intervention, she stated that the Kidsight app will empower families to identify potential developmental delays or disabilities early, ensuring timely support and care.
Developed to assist parents with preliminary milestone screening, the Kidsight app provides age-specific guidance, awareness videos, and a dedicated platform for parents to share developmental concerns. While supplementing professional evaluation rather than replacing medical diagnosis, the app is available as a free download on both Android and iOS platforms.
Prayatna Founder and Chairman Dr. Joseph Sunny Kunnassery highlighted that every child’s growth trajectory is unique, and the app is designed to help parents better understand developmental stages and seek expert intervention when needed.
The well-attended event at Oberon Mall featured special occupational therapy stalls, interactive games, and recreational activities for children and adults to demonstrate the therapeutic role of play in child development. Councillor Shibi Soman, Oberon Mall Centre Manager Monu Nair, and other Prayatna representatives participated in the programme.
