KOCHI : Indian Naval Ship (INS) Sudarshini set sail from Livorno, Italy, on September 12, 2026, successfully completing its port call as part of the ongoing global sail training deployment, ‘Lokayan 2026’. During the visit, the ship engaged in high-level professional interactions, cross-training visits, and cultural exchanges, significantly bolstering bilateral maritime ties and strategic friendship between India and Italy.
Admiral Giuseppe Berutti Bergotto, Chief of the Italian Navy, visited the vessel to interact with the crew and sea trainees, while the Commanding Officer of INS Sudarshini held bilateral discussions with Rear Admiral Alberto Tarabotto, Commandant of the Italian Naval Academy, along with Mr. Luca Salvetti, Mayor of Livorno, and Mr. Edoardo Lombardi, Vice Prefect of Livorno. The port call featured cross-deck visits between Indian trainees and the Italian Frigate ITS Virginio Fasan, as well as a formal deck reception attended by senior naval officers, diplomats, and local dignitaries.
As INS Sudarshini resumes her sea journey, she continues to project India’s vision of MAHASAGAR (Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions) across international waters.
