KOCHI: Medical experts are raising alarms over the significant increase in male infertility issues. Dr. Deepthi Surendran, Fertility Specialist at Nova IVF Fertility, Palakkad, revealed that recent clinical data shows 41 percent of men seeking treatment exhibit abnormalities in sperm count and motility. Alarmingly, over 66 percent of these cases involve men between the ages of 31 and 40. Dr. Surendran issued a strong warning regarding the unsupervised use of testosterone and anabolic steroids for bodybuilding, which severely impacts natural sperm production. Additionally, modern lifestyle factors—including age, obesity, diabetes, chronic stress, sleep deprivation, smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, and sedentary habits—are major contributors to declining male reproductive health. To ensure timely diagnosis and effective intervention, she strongly recommended that couples seeking fertility assistance undergo comprehensive medical evaluations together.
