KOCHI: In a major initiative aimed at curbing drug exposure among school students and ensuring child safety, the Kerala Police in collaboration with Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham officially unveiled the ‘Kuttipetti’ and ‘Police-Bro‘ feedback and complaint mechanism. The ceremonial handover of the prototype box was performed by Dr. K.P. Gireesh Kumar, Principal of Amrita School of Medicine, to Kerala State Police Chief Ravada A. Chandrasekhar IPS during the ‘Operation Toofan’ training conclave at Amrita Hospital, Kochi. Designed to be installed across primary to Class 12 schools statewide under direct police supervision and academic oversight from Amrita experts, the ‘Kuttipetti’ initiative empowers students to report grievances confidentially.
The multi-channel reporting tool allows students to drop written complaints directly into physical boxes, dial the dedicated ‘Police-Bro’ helpline printed on the boxes, or scan an integrated QR code for digital submission. Beyond strictly intercepting drug trafficking and substance abuse in around school campuses under Operation Toofan, the mechanism enables children to report domestic issues linked to addicted family members, discreetly flag instances of abuse, and highlight civic or environmental concerns like polluted public water bodies. Complaints will be confidentially retrieved weekly by local police officers, reviewed bi-weekly by District Police Chiefs, and evaluated monthly at the state leadership level, with provision for direct intervention by the DGP in emergency situations.
