KOCHI: The 2 Maharashtra Naval Unit National Cadet Corps (NCC), based at Ratnagiri, successfully conducted the ceremonial Flag-In of the Most Enterprising Naval Unit (MENU 27) Open Sea Sailing Expedition on October 31, 2026. Sailing under the campaign banner “Konkan Gyan Tarang”, the contingent navigated the challenging waters of the Arabian Sea aboard three 27-foot DK Whaler boats, covering an arduous 250-kilometer route along the Konkan coast from Ratnagiri to Palshet and back. The 10-day voyage tested the physical endurance, seamanship, and tidal navigation skills of the participating cadets.

Aligned with the expedition’s core theme, “Navigating Knowledge, Anchoring Progress: Sailing Towards the Ideal Konkan,” the cadets actively engaged coastal communities during strategic halts along the route. Performing street plays (Path Natya / Nukkad Natak) for over 1,000 citizens, the contingent raised awareness on vital social issues including universal education, women’s empowerment, and the eradication of child labor. Additionally, they conducted a specialized youth-centric digital wellness initiative titled ‘Real vs. Reel’ to foster critical thinking among the younger generation. The expedition also featured rigorous adventure activities, including a demanding 350-foot rappelling descent alongside training in kayaking and parasailing.
Presiding over the Flag-In ceremony, the Group Commander of NCC Group Kolhapur commended the contingent, highlighting that completing a 250-kilometer open-sea journey in DK Whalers reflects the exceptional resilience, tactical proficiency, and teamwork embodied by the National Cadet Corps.
