Prime Volleyball League Season 5 to Begin in Ahmedabad on November 30

Thiruvananthapuram : The fifth season of the Prime Volleyball League (PVL) will be held in Ahmedabad, with matches commencing on November 30, 2026, at the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex in Naranpura. The month-long sporting extravaganza will bring together some of India’s leading volleyball players and international talents, reinforcing the league’s commitment to expanding the reach and popularity of professional volleyball across the country.

The announcement comes at a time when Ahmedabad is strengthening its position as a major sporting destination, with preparations underway for the 2030 Commonwealth Games and India’s efforts to host the 2036 Olympic Games. Envisioned as part of the city’s international-standard sporting infrastructure, the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex will provide an ideal venue for one of India’s premier professional volleyball leagues. As in the previous season, ten teams will compete for the title this year: Ahmedabad Defenders, Bengaluru Torpedoes, Calicut Heroes, Chennai Blitz, Delhi Toofans, Goa Guardians, Kochi Blue Spikers, Kolkata Thunderbolts, Mumbai Meteors and Telugu Black Hawks. Bengaluru Torpedoes are the defending champions.

Earlier this year, the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) recognised the Prime Volleyball League as India’s first-division professional volleyball league. Meanwhile, following impressive performances in international competitions, including the 2026 Asian Games, the AVC Continental Cup in Japan and the AVC Men’s Cup held in Ahmedabad, the Indian men’s national volleyball team has climbed from 60th to 42nd place in the FIVB world rankings, reflecting the growing stature of Indian volleyball on the international stage.

Bringing Season 5 to Ahmedabad marks another significant milestone in the league’s journey to promote professional volleyball across India, said Joy Bhattacharjya, CEO of the Prime Volleyball League. Considering Ahmedabad’s growing sporting ambitions and the progress of the Indian men’s national team, he added that this was an exciting time to bring the PVL to the city. Praveen Chaudhary, owner of Ahmedabad Defenders, said that they were proud to welcome the Prime Volleyball League to Ahmedabad.
